July 29, 2016 at the premises of Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine the selection meeting of the partners for Twinning project proposals from EU Member States, who expressed a desire to become partners with the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (hereinafter – SSUFSCP) in the implementation of the Twinning Project "The approximation of Ukrainian legislation with the EU in the field of plant protection products and plant health and strengthening associated inspection and laboratory services" was held.
Implementation of the project involves the strengthening capacities for the sustainable use of plant protection products, the analysis of such products and their residues. The project aims are to increase the level of consumer protection, to improve opportunities for trade in food and food products, to strengthen inspection capacity on the basis of best practices in accordance with the ISO 17020, to reduce side effects to plants and the environment, and to enhance the public awareness for sustainable use of high quality plant protection products.
During the meeting some proposals regarding a prospective cooperation within the framework of the Twinning Project, that had been received from the consortium of countries including Latvia, Lithuania and Germany as well as Italy and Poland, were reviewed.
The meeting was attended by proposed RTAs and Project Leaders from mentioned countries, representatives from SSUFSCP and the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, as well as other concerned parties.
From the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service the meeting was attended by the Senior Consultant of the Projects Management Unit Alla Domaskina.
For reference: since 2005 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated on October 6, 2005 № 1424/2005 «The Issue on the Twinning Programme Implementation in Ukraine» the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service directs and coordinates the activity on preparation and implementation the Twinning Programme in Ukraine. Moreover the NAUCS is considered to be the national coordinator of the institutional building instrument TAIEX and CIB Programme according to the relevant regulatory acts. For the purpose of the Twinning, TAIEX and CIB appropriate coordination was created the Twinning Programme Administration office in Ukraine which functions are executed by the Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the standards of the European Union.
