The World Government Summit takes place in Dubai on 11-13 February

The event is conducted for the 6th time, initiated by the United Arab Emirates’ Government and brings together leaders of public and private sectors as well as international leaders.

The subject matter of this year’s meeting is shaping the future of governance. Participants of the event within the framework of rich dialogues and conversations discuss ways to enhance governments’ action in order to improve the lives of every person, but not only increasing  the indicators of economic growth. Among the key speakers at the forum are the Prime Ministers of India, France, the United Arab Emirates, as well as Christine Lagarde (World Bank), Klaus Schwab (Davos Economic Forum), Angel Gurria (OECD Secretary General), Francis Fukuyama, and other well-known government state and public figures, scholars.

Less government, but more governance that provides for the involvement of all stakeholders in the process of developing the effective policies and solutions, whereby the main measure of the success and effectiveness of public administration would be the well-being of people. Due to existing technologies and above all, information technologies face new challenges to public administration and governance at different levels ― from one small community to the international society. Innovations, the latest technologies must serve, first of all, to prevent poverty, access to education. The effectiveness of government and governance depends to a large extent on strong institutions and leadership.

Delegation of Ukraine including the Head of the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service Kostiantyn Vashchenko and First Deputy Head Volodymyr Kuprii was invited by the Government of the United Arab Emirates for participation in the work of the Summit.

"The content of considerations, discussions and presentations at this event confirms the relevance of the work carrying out by the Government of Ukraine on the public administration and civil service reforms. At the same time, the main goal of any reforms should be increasing the human welfare, creating opportunities for its both professional and social self-realization. In today’s world only those countries are competitive who build the capacities of state institutions as well as shape and implement the policy based on the principles of the supreme law, inclusiveness", remarked Kostiantyn Vashchenko.

During the forum, a number of business meetings with representatives of government institutions and the Ukrainian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates took place, in which the issues on cooperation in the area of civil service reform were discussed. Participation of the Ukrainian delegation in the Summit was covered by the host country.
