On July 19 2011 at the conference hall of the National bank of Ukraine the official closing conference of Twinning Project "Strengthening NBU potential through the approximation to EU standards of central banking" was held. The beneficiary of the project during the 18 months of implementation was the NBU.

Serhiy Kruglyk, RTA Counterpart, Head of the Foreign Relations Department of the NBU moderated the event.

First Deputy Governor of the NBU Yuriy Kolobov, Project Leader form Ukrainian side, came forward with welcome speech. He noticed that the project has achieved its mandatory results and expectations from the very of its beginning are fully implemented.

MDCSU (National Twinning coordinator in Ukraine) Deputy Head Olena Tertyshna came forward with the relevant speech. She noticed that this project contributed to strengthening the capacity of Ukrainian banking sector fully to finance economic and social development of the country. She also stressed on the positive impact of the project in other vital areas (improvement of institutional capacity of the Bank, legislative framework in the banking sector, etc.), and on the particularly effective cooperation between partners within the project implementation.

Also with the opening remarks came forward Honorable Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine Hans-Jürgen Heimsoeth, Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of Poland to Ukraine Dariusz Górczyński and First Counselor for Economic Affairs of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jose Roman Leon Lora.

The achievements and results of the project were told by the EU project leaders from Germany and Poland – Dr. Martin Pontzen (Deutsche Bundesbank) and Mariush Stankovski (National Bank of Poland).

Heads of structural units of the NBU, responsible for implementing the components of the project, presented the project results in the relevant areas.

Arthur Radomski, Resident Twinning Adviser, summarised the event and provided closing his closing remarks.

The participants of the event were also Twinning project for NBU coordinator from Twinning Programme Administration Office in Ukraine, Head of Sector for International Cooperation Projects of Center for Adaptation of the Civil Service the Standards of the European Union Nadiia Kyzytska, representatives of state bodies of Ukraine, media, international projects, foreign quests and other.
